Beavers Cancelled Tonight

Due to security concerns and limits placed on school use both Beavers and Cub meetings are cancelled tonight, October 22nd.

Monday, October 20, 2014

Fun with Geodesic Domes!

The Beavers had a blast working together to build a "Beaver Lodge" (geodesic dome) out of paper. Here are a few pictures we managed to snap:

The completed frame

We had the beavers decorate the outer shell of their lodge!

Everybody IN!

I forget exactly how many beavers we had that day, but I know they managed to get themselves all in!

Afterward, the beavers decided they wanted to exit the only way beavers do... LOUDLY!

Just another Quiet Quiet Beaver moment... NOT! ;)

See you on Wednesday!

Request for Photos.

Hello again from the pond!

As you all know, tonight is our end of year BBQ/Potluck/Early Registration event. Hopefully, we get to introduce Scouting to many new friends, and also see a bunch of you returning next year! In that spirit, we would like to have a slide-show of pictures from this year's Scouting events running in the background as a feature of tonight's festivities.

We've received a bunch of photos so far, but there's still room for more! If you can bring pictures with you on a USB key or regular-sized SD card, Tic Tac (Andre) will be able to add them in tonight.

See you tonight!

Just a quick reminder that we'll be having our year-end BBQ/Potluck at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Wednesday June 11th at 6:00 PM.

Finally, we are planning a photo slideshow presentation as part of the event. If you have any photos from this year's Scouting events, please send them to Tic Tac (Andre, aracicot+Scouts2014@gmail.com) so he can include them in the presentation.

Hope to see you there!

Scoutrees (May 3)

You should have received an envelope for Scoutrees fundraising this past week.
Scoutrees is a program that has been running more than 40 years.
"Scouting members plant trees in conservation areas, provincial parks, on crown-lands, and at Scout Camps. Through Scoutrees the youth learn the important role trees play in helping the environment."
More info can be found here - http://www.scouts.ca/ca/scoutrees

Tree planting will take place on May 3.
(We'll share the details of where and when as soon as we can)

This year we are collecting sponsorships to help fund equipment purchases for camps.
15% of the funds collected are given to the Brotherhood Fund for use in World Scouting's Community Development Program (http://www.angelfire.com/nf/Scouts/Brother.html).
85% of the funds collected remain with 63rd Ottawa.
Our goal this year is for each family to raise $35.

Some statements for your Beaver to use when canvassing:
"Will you help support planting trees for Scouts Canada?"
"Will you help support our group buying new tents so we can go camping?"
"Will you help support World Scouting's community development work?"
